Vito Mazza Salon & Spa had its beginnings in 1967 when Vito Mazza Sr. started a little barber shop. Vito Jr. joined him, and over the decades their family-owned business grew into a full-service salon and spa and a specialized hair loss solutions destination. Vito Mazza is the only salon in New Jersey to partner with Recover with Confidence, an organization dedicated to meeting the needs of people suffering from medical hair loss. This summer, Vito Mazza Thinning Hair Solutions will open its second location at Raritan Bay Medical Center’s new Raritan Bay Medical Arts Building in Old Bridge.
Losing your hair? You are not alone!
Thinning hair, especially if it’s severe, can make us lose confi dence and feel vulnerable when out among other people. There are many causes of hair loss in men and women, but the good news is that there are also many solutions available to correct the appearance of thinning hair and help restore the person’s self-esteem. A professional salon that specializes in hair loss issues is your best resource for help with this very common and potentially devastating problem.
Hair Loss in Men
Male pattern baldness, or MPB, may be caused by an over-abundance of the male hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) within the hair follicle. The hair loss normally begins at the temples, then the crown begins to thin and eventually you are left with a horseshoe pattern of hair around the sides of your head.
Among the solutions to help men with their hair loss are hair grafting, laser hair therapy, and new systems such as Virtual Reality®. The Virtual Reality technique involves applying an invisible, non-surgical derma lens like a contact lens into which human hair is inserted, resulting in hair restoration that looks natural and can be washed, conditioned, and styled normally.
Hair Loss in Women
There are 20 million women in America suffering from excessive hair loss. Ten million of them are under the age of 40. There are a number of factors that may contribute to hair loss in women: genetics, diet and nutrition, thyroid malfunctions, hormone changes associated with pregnancy and menopause, exposure to air and water pollutants and chlorine, and various medications. The stress in our daily lives also contributes.
With androgenic hair loss or female pattern baldness, the hair loss is permanent. Unlike men, women who suffer from this condition rarely go bald, but the hair becomes very thin on the top of the head, making it difficult to do much with the hair they have left.
Some of the available solutions for women with fi ne, thinning hair include hair replenishment, hair progression, laser hair therapy and professional thinning hair care products. Laser hair therapy is an exciting advance in the treatment of hair loss. This procedure, which utilizes cool laser technology, helps promote healthy hair growth. It stops excessive hair shedding and is safe and effective for both men and women.
Medically-induced Hair Loss
While chemotherapy treatments may cause a range of side effects that can be very difficult physically, one of the most psychologically and emotionally debilitating is the loss of your hair.
